Alexandria authorities ban swimming at several beaches due to high waves

Authorities in Alexandria have issued a ban on swimming across various beaches due to turbulent sea conditions and high waves. Governor Ayman Attia has ordered maximum readiness to ensure the safety of beachgoers following weather warnings from the Meteorological Authority.

Red flags, indicating a total prohibition of entering the water, have been raised at several locations, including Stanley, Al-Silsila, and all beaches in the western sector and Ajami. In the eastern sector, some beaches are flying yellow flags, signaling medium to high waves and requiring swimmers to exercise caution and follow lifeguard instructions.

While swimming is prohibited at red-flag beaches, the areas remain open for visitors to sit on the sand. Local authorities are conducting field inspections to ensure compliance and have instructed beach operators to refund ticket prices to citizens who wish to leave due to the swimming ban.
