Alexandria court adjourns trial of lawyer accused of killing and dismembering mother

The Alexandria Criminal Court has adjourned the trial of lawyer Sally El-Gabbas, who is accused of killing and dismembering her elderly mother in their residence in the Sidi Bishr area. The hearing was postponed to allow for the completion of legal procedures and to hear the defense's arguments.

The case began after neighbors reported a foul odor emanating from an apartment on Ramadan 10th Street. Upon inspection, security forces discovered parts of the victim's body in the living room, her legs in a bag, and her head inside a freezer. Investigators also recovered a knife and internal organs in a plastic bag.

During the proceedings, El-Gabbas denied intentional murder, claiming that a verbal dispute led to her mother collapsing. She testified that she believed her mother had merely fallen into a diabetic coma and left her alone. Her defense counsel has requested full access to the prosecution's investigation files to properly prepare for the upcoming sessions.
