Alexandria Labor Day Weekend Events Guide
A range of cultural and recreational activities are scheduled in Alexandria and nearby Mount Vernon for Labor Day weekend, September 4‑7. On Friday, Sept. 4, the "Working the Vines: Labor in Wine Production" class at Planet Wine will feature wine director Erin Dudley tasting six wines from labor‑focused wineries, with cheese pairings and discounts.
Saturday offers a family‑friendly "Fun with Science" program at Carlyle House, a 5K run on Holmes Run Trail, and a concert by the National Symphony Orchestra performing John Williams' score at the Filene Center, Wolf Trap. An open‑house at George Washington’s Mount Vernon runs Sept. 3‑6 for members and the public.
Sunday includes a Cars & Coffee meet at Hollin Hall, a 5K & 10K race in Mount Vernon District Park, and various local food and craft vendors. Monday, Labor Day, features a yoga session at Lost Boy Cider with complimentary cider, followed by the "Joggers & Lagers" run at Port City Brewing Company.
