Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez campaign reports luxury hotel spending

Federal Election Commission filings reveal that Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s re-election campaign has spent approximately $47,000 on 45 hotel stays across the United States since April. The expenditures include stays at properties classified as luxury, upscale, or upper-upscale in cities such as Memphis, Atlanta, Chicago, and Manhattan.

Notable charges include a $5,044 bill at The Memphian in Tennessee, as well as stays at The Candler Hotel in Atlanta and The Talbott in Chicago. In New York, the campaign recorded expenses at the Thompson Central Park and Hyatt Seville NoMad hotels. The campaign also utilized various chauffeur and limousine services during this period.

This spending occurs as Ocasio-Cortez travels nationally to support Democratic candidates ahead of the November midterm elections. While the campaign has amassed a $37 million war chest, Republican critics have highlighted these luxury expenditures as inconsistent with her progressive platform and advocacy for taxing the wealthy.
