Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez campaigns for Florida Senate candidate Angie Nixon

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez traveled to central Florida to campaign for Senate candidate Angie Nixon. Nixon recently secured an upset victory in the Democratic Senate primary, defeating incumbent candidate Alex Vindman by 12 points.

Nixon’s campaign utilized a strategy focused on grassroots mobilization, including the use of canvassing apps to coordinate volunteers for door-knocking and phone calls. This approach allowed her to compete effectively despite a significantly lower budget; Nixon raised approximately $975,000, while Vindman had the backing of the Democratic establishment and raised over $16.3 million.

During rallies in the Orlando and Kissimmee areas, Ocasio-Cortez emphasized a strategy of targeting specific communities rather than focusing solely on major metropolitan hubs like Miami. She also pledged to defend Nixon against political attacks from the right.
