Alexandria terminates Canary Beach lease after fatal incident

The Alexandria Governorate has announced the termination of the contract with the operator of Canary Beach following a fatal incident at the western city beach that resulted in the death of a woman. Security forces have apprehended and detained the suspect, who has confessed to the crime.

In response to the incident, Governor Ayman Attia has issued urgent directives to tighten regulations across all beaches in the governorate. New measures include requiring beach lessees to submit approved lists of all employees for mandatory criminal and medical background checks. The governorate will also increase unannounced inspections to ensure compliance and maintain public safety during the high-traffic summer season.
