Alexandroupoli: 42-year-old soldier dies suddenly

A 42-year-old soldier has died suddenly in Alexandroupoli, causing mourning within the Greek Armed Forces and the local community. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 20, when the man experienced intense chest pains at his home and lost consciousness.

Emergency services transported him to the Alexandroupoli University General Hospital, but despite medical efforts, he passed away shortly after arrival. Reports indicate he had no known prior health issues. The deceased served for several years in the 1st Electronic Surveillance Platoon.

His military unit has declared a three-day period of mourning. Additionally, the local club in Niki Apallou has canceled scheduled events and training sessions in honor of the soldier. The funeral is scheduled to take place on Tuesday morning at the Holy Church of Agios Eleftherios in Alexandroupoli.
