Alexandroupolis FSRU named finalist in REGIOSTARS 2026 awards

The Alexandroupolis Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) project, managed by Gastrade, has been named a finalist in the ‘A Connected Europe’ category of the REGIOSTARS 2026 awards. This recognition by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional Policy places the project among the top 25 co-financed initiatives in Europe.

The infrastructure serves as a strategic entry point for liquefied natural gas (LNG) destined for Southeast and Central Europe. By integrating the floating unit with the National Natural Gas Transmission System and the Vertical Corridor, the project aims to diversify energy supply sources, enhance energy resilience, and increase competition within the European energy market.

The project was implemented with co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through various operational programs. The selection comes following a record year for the awards, which received 274 nominations from all 27 EU member states.
