Alexandru Nazare reports inflation drop amid potential premiership

Interim Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare has highlighted recent economic improvements in Romania, noting that the annual inflation rate dropped to 6.2% in August, down from 8.2% in July and over 10% in June. Nazare stated that these figures confirm a real correction of economic imbalances and emphasized that the country cannot afford to return to previous fiscal instability.

Nazare’s comments come amid political speculation regarding his potential designation as Prime Minister by President Nicușor Dan to form a new government following the dismissal of the previous administration.

In personal news, Nazare recently married Maria Mihali, a folk music performer from Maramureș. The wedding ceremony was attended by President Nicușor Dan. The godfather of the wedding was Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the Greek Finance Minister and President of the Eurogroup, who was also received by President Dan at the Cotroceni Palace.
