Alexey Shpilevsky in Sofia for CSKA Sofia coaching negotiations

Alexey Shpilevsky, a 38-year-old Belarusian specialist, has arrived in Sofia to finalize negotiations to become the new head coach of CSKA Sofia. Following the departure of Hristo Yanev, Shpilevsky is considered the frontrunner for the position.

During his visit, Shpilevsky met with Executive Director Vangel Vangelov and Sporting Director Valentin Iliev. He has toured the club's training bases in Pancharevo and the new stadium. If negotiations conclude successfully, an official announcement is expected by Monday, with a potential contract lasting until the summer of 2029.

Shpilevsky's professional background includes winning league titles in Kazakhstan with Kairat and in Cyprus with Aris Limassol. He has also held roles at clubs such as Pari Nizhny Novgorod, Dynamo Brest, and Erzgebirge Aue, with experience in the academies of Stuttgart and RB Leipzig.
