Alexi Pitu suffers serious knee injury during UTA Arad vs Rapid match
UTA Arad midfielder Alexi Pitu suffered a serious knee injury during a 0-0 draw against Rapid București in the Romanian Superliga. Pitu was stretchered off the pitch in the 42nd minute after a challenge involving Olimpiu Moruțan. Preliminary reports suggest a suspected anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear, which could sideline the 24-year-old for at least six months.
UTA coach Adrian Mihalcea expressed significant concern regarding the injury, noting that an MRI is required for a final diagnosis. The loss is a major blow to the club's midfield stability. Additionally, the match was marked by controversy, as Rapid coach Daniel Pancu criticized the refereeing after Filip Stojilković was denied a penalty in stoppage time. Rapid fans have also voiced frustration with club leadership regarding officiating issues.
Separately, UTA Arad is managing roster changes, having recently secured goalkeeper Marcio Salomao Brazao da Rosa while navigating ongoing negotiations regarding the club's existing goalkeepers, Tordai and Gorcea.
