Alexia Barrier secures Alpes-Maritimes support for 2026 Route du Rhum

The Alpes-Maritimes department has announced its support for sailor Alexia Barrier and The Famous Project ahead of the 2026 Route du Rhum. Barrier, who began her sailing journey in Antibes, will compete in the solo challenge between Saint-Malo and Guadeloupe.

Barrier will helm the IDEC SPORT CIC, a 32-meter ULTIM maxi-trimaran that has been adapted for solo navigation. By carrying the number 06 on the vessel, she aims to represent her home region during the race. Her objective is to become the first woman to start the Route du Rhum in the ULTIM class. The race is scheduled to begin on November 1, 2026, in Saint-Malo.
