Greek public figures share personal health and family stories

Several Greek and Cypriot public figures have shared personal accounts of health and family struggles in recent media appearances.

Actress Alexia Moustaka spoke on ERT about the loss of her parents twenty years ago. She revealed that her father passed away from cancer, a condition he kept secret to protect her, while her mother suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.

Actress Marina Aslanoglou disclosed for the first time that she battled an autoimmune condition, specifically alopecia areata, which caused significant hair loss. She noted that she wore a wig during public appearances last year to manage the psychological impact of the condition.

In other personal disclosures, former model Dimitra Alexandraki discussed a difficult period involving personal well-being and social isolation. Additionally, actress Maria Katsandri reflected on her professional journey and her time living in Paris during an interview on ERT.

Conductor Eleni Kotsmanidou also shared insights into her musical career and the challenges of being a woman in orchestra conducting.
