Alexion to conduct 19 registrational studies for rare diseases in Italy
Alexion is set to conduct approximately 19 registrational studies, one real-world evidence study, and support at least three independent research studies as part of a new investment program. The initiative was discussed by Anna Chiara Rossi, VP & General Manager Italy at Alexion, during an event hosted by AstraZeneca in Rome focused on clinical research and public-private cooperation.
Rossi emphasized that research into rare diseases does more than develop life-changing therapies; it generates essential knowledge and improves patient pathways. She noted that such research projects provide a wealth of experience to medical centers and the host country, potentially strengthening Italy's competitive position in the international research and development landscape.
