Alexis Mac Allister cites Gabigol as a Flamengo icon

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister recently mentioned Gabigol as a key figure associated with Flamengo during a casual discussion alongside teammate Alisson. While Alisson cited Zico, Mac Allister highlighted the former striker, who is a central figure of the club’s 2019 generation.

Gabigol achieved significant success with Flamengo, securing 13 titles including two Copa Libertadores (2019 and 2022), two Brasileirões, and two Copa do Brasil trophies. His performance in the 2019 Libertadores final against River Plate was particularly notable for ending the club’s 38-year drought in the competition.

Following the 2024 Copa do Brasil victory, Gabigol left Flamengo after his contract was not renewed. He has since signed with Cruzeiro until 2028, though he spent the current season on loan at Santos.
