Alexis Mitév battles rare Ewing sarcoma in Greece

Alexis Mitév, a 20-year-old originally from Bulgaria who grew up in Chania, Greece, is battling Ewing sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that primarily affects children and young adults.

Since November 2025, Mitév has been undergoing specialized treatment at the Agios Savvas General Cancer Hospital in Athens. His medical journey has included six cycles of chemotherapy completed by February 2026, followed by radiotherapy which concluded in early June 2026. His condition has been marked by severe complications, including episodes of febrile neutropenia requiring intensive medical monitoring.

Recent medical assessments, specifically a PET/CT scan conducted on June 30, 2026, indicate that the disease has spread beyond the bones and bone marrow to include nodules in the lungs. This development has necessitated a change in his treatment protocol.
