Alexis Sanchez begins training with CF Montreal ahead of potential MLS debut
Alexis Sanchez has completed his first training session with CF Montreal ahead of a potential Major League Soccer debut. The 37-year-old Chilean forward participated in training at Centre Nutrilait on Monday, receiving a traditional initiation from his new teammates.
Despite not having played a competitive match since May 23 with Sevilla, interim head coach Philippe Eullaffroy expressed confidence in Sanchez’s physical condition. Eullaffroy noted that the player performed very well during recent tests and confirmed that Sanchez will travel with the team to face the Columbus Crew this Wednesday.
Sanchez is expected to be included in the matchday squad, with the coach indicating there are “high chances” the striker will see minutes. The upcoming match is critical for Montreal as they attempt to close a six-point gap in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
