Alexis Sánchez joins CF Montreal in Major League Soccer

Chilean striker Alexis Sánchez has arrived in Montreal to begin his new chapter with CF Montreal in Major League Soccer (MLS). The 37-year-old, who spent 18 years playing in Europe, was received by a crowd of fans and Montreal Mayor Soraya Martínez Ferrada.

CF Montreal coach Philippe Eullaffroy expressed significant excitement regarding the signing, noting that Sánchez’s history with clubs like Arsenal and Marseille left a lasting impression. Eullaffroy stated, “The first emotion was to say ‘wow’,” and noted that his current focus is determining how to best utilize Sánchez’s skills and experience within the team’s tactical scheme.

Sánchez joins the club as a Designated Player with a reported market value of approximately 32 million euros (37 million dollars). His arrival adds to a growing presence of Chilean players in the MLS, joining others such as Thomas Gillier, Benjamín Kuscevic, and Paulo Díaz.
