Alexis Sánchez joins CF Montréal as Designated Player

CF Montréal has officially signed Chilean football legend Alexis Sánchez as a Designated Player. The 37-year-old forward joins the Major League Soccer (MLS) club as a free agent following his departure from Sevilla in Spain.

Sánchez, who holds the records for most appearances (168) and goals (51) for the Chilean national team, has signed a contract that covers the remainder of the 2026 season and the 2027 sprint season. The club also holds an option to extend his stay through the 2027-28 campaign.

This move marks the end of an 18-year career in European football, during which Sánchez played for prominent clubs including Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Inter Milan. Club officials, including Senior Director of Recruitment Luca Saputo, noted that Sánchez's technical quality and leadership are expected to have an immediate impact on the team's ambitions.
