Alexis Tsipras calls for progressive unity in Greece

Alexis Tsipras, leader of the Greek Left Alliance (ELAS), addressed members in Ilioupoli, emphasizing the need to build a strong progressive faction to achieve victory in upcoming elections. He called for increased physical presence and direct engagement with citizens in neighborhoods, workplaces, and universities to address daily issues such as the rising cost of living, rent, and social inequality.

Tsipras stated his political goal is for this to be the last winter under the New Democracy government led by Kyriakos Mitsotakis. He clarified that ELAS does not seek to cooperate with the Right but aims to establish an independent political pole. He also highlighted concerns regarding corruption and the rise of the far-right, arguing that Greece requires an alternative progressive administration.
