Alexis Tsipras announces National Reconstruction Plan to challenge New Democracy
Alexis Tsipras, leader of SYRIZA, has announced a new political strategy aimed at challenging the current government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Speaking at a party meeting, Tsipras criticized the seven-year administration of New Democracy, alleging a regime of corruption, injustice, and increasing social inequality. He stated that his party is the only true opponent to New Democracy.
Tsipras revealed that SYRIZA will present a ‘National Reconstruction Plan’ at the upcoming Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). This plan is built on a three-part pillar: producing more, distributing more fairly, and living better. He emphasized that his proposed model of governance focuses on honesty, fair development, and productive reconstruction, ensuring that all political promises are backed by permanent funding while respecting fiscal rules.
In response to Tsipras's decision to speak at the TIF before the Prime Minister, Migration Minister Thanos Plevris characterized the move as a ‘provocation.’ Plevris argued that as a former Prime Minister, Tsipras should respect institutional protocols and noted that his current political identity cannot be separated from his previous term in office between 2015 and 2019.
