Alexis Tsipras demands resignation of Greek Justice Minister

Alexis Tsipras, leader of SYRIZA, has called for the resignation of Greek Justice Minister Georgos Floridis following recent judicial developments. Tsipras described the referral of Christos Triantopoulos to a special court as a ‘ray of light’.

Speaking at the Olympia Forum in Ilia, Tsipras argued that if Floridis does not resign on grounds of political accountability, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis should dismiss him. The opposition leader cited the Minister's previous controversial remarks regarding those discussing ‘filling’ (bazoma) as a reason for his departure.

Tsipras also addressed the political landscape, stating that SYRIZA and PASOK are competitors within the progressive camp, but their primary opponent is the New Democracy government. He warned that failure to unite progressive forces could lead to a third term for Mitsotakis.
