Alexis Tsipras positions ELAS as governing alternative to Mitsotakis

While Tsipras aims to frame the upcoming election period around political integrity and direct confrontation with Mitsotakis, the party is facing internal challenges. Tensions have risen regarding the communication style of ELAS spokesperson Theoni Koufonikolakou, whose recent public statements have drawn criticism and shifted focus away from core policy positions.

Furthermore, ELAS is navigating an internal debate over party composition. One faction advocates for incorporating more experienced politicians, such as former SYRIZA ministers, to bolster governing capabilities, while another group warns that relying on familiar faces could undermine the party’s message of renewal.
