Alexis Tsipras presents new economic program at Thessaloniki Fair

Alexis Tsipras, leader of the Greek Leftist Solidarity (ELAS), held a press conference at the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair to present a new political and economic program. Tsipras aims to challenge the current government led by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, stating his strategic goal is the electoral defeat of the Prime Minister.

His economic platform includes raising the minimum wage to 1,000 euros, increasing healthcare spending, and focusing on wealth redistribution. Tsipras emphasized that his policy is not merely about managing poverty but about producing wealth. He also addressed the possibility of forming a government, stating that if ELAS does not secure a mandate in the first round of elections, he will pursue a second round.

Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis strongly criticized the proposal, labeling it a ‘monument of political fraud’ and accusing Tsipras of misrepresenting the actual costs of his measures. Tsipras countered by attacking the government's fiscal stability record and the rising cost of living.
