Alexis Tsipras conducts regional tour in Thessaly for ELAS
Alexis Tsipras, leader of the Hellenic Left Solidarity Alliance (ELAS), has completed a multi-day tour across the Thessaly region to engage with local citizens, workers, and producers. During his visits to areas such as Palama, Karditsa, and Melivoia, Tsipras addressed several critical issues, including the cost of living, the housing crisis, and the decline of agricultural production.
Tsipras characterized the Tempi train tragedy as a “state crime,” criticizing the government’s handling of the investigation and the actions taken at the accident site. He also targeted the administration regarding agricultural subsidies, alleging a corrupt system involving the misreporting of livestock numbers to secure funds.
In his policy proposals, Tsipras advocated for a redistribution of wealth, suggesting that the wealthiest 1% should contribute more to fund public services like schools, hospitals, and pensions. He also expressed concerns regarding the potential privatization of water resources, arguing for the protection of water as a public good managed by local authorities.
