Aleyda Romero funeral held in Chalco following fatal attack

Family and friends gathered in San Martín Cuautlalpan, Chalco, to hold a wake and funeral for Aleyda Romero Victorio, a 21-year-old nanny who was killed during a violent attack involving musician Jonathan Meléndez of the band Camilo Séptimo.

Community members and relatives described Romero as a brave individual, noting that she may have attempted to protect one of the children in her care during the assault, which allowed the child to survive. Her death occurred alongside Meléndez and other members of his family in a multi-homicide incident in the State of Mexico.

During the services, mourners expressed both grief and a demand for justice, seeking to ensure that the killings do not go unpunished. The community held traditional rites for the young woman before her burial in the local cemetery.
