Alfa Romeo Unveils Plans for Next‑Gen Stelvio SUV with Hybrid Options
Alfa Romeo’s next‑generation Stelvio SUV, expected to debut around 2030, will be larger and offered with both battery‑electric and hybrid powertrains. The model will be built on Stellantis’s STLA Large platform, allowing flexible integration of high‑performance internal‑combustion engines alongside electric drivetrains. Design renderings from the UK motor‑magazine Auto Express show a more muscular body, a redesigned front grille and slimmer lighting clusters, with a length that could exceed five metres, positioning the new Stelvio above rivals such as the BMW X3 and Mercedes‑G LC.
Production of the current Stelvio is slated to continue until 2027 while the new version is readied, but development has faced schedule slips as the company adjusts from an earlier plan for a purely electric model. Analysts note that the platform‑sharing strategy aims to curb capital expenditures and improve margins across Stellantis’s global plants, though tooling and software changes introduce supply‑chain challenges.
