Alfeld Cadastral Office to close after 140 years

The Alfeld Cadastral Office in Lower Saxony is scheduled to close on October 1 following a decision by the state cabinet to restructure the surveying administration. This move involves the dissolution of 14 out of 53 cadastral offices across the state.

Despite the closure, officials stated that the consolidation will not result in personnel cuts. The eleven employees currently based in Alfeld will be transferred within the Hameln-Hannover regional directorate, primarily to Hildesheim, or offered transfers to Hameln or Hannover. Moving forward, the Hildesheim office will manage all services for the Hildesheim district, utilizing increased capacity and digitalization to handle tasks previously managed in Alfeld.
