Alfeus Benjamin Named Interim Chair of Namibia Sport Commission

The Namibia Sport Commission (NSC) appointed Alfeus Benjamin as interim chairperson, effective 28 July through 31 December 2024. The temporary measure was taken after the terms of five board members expired on 30 June, leaving the commission without a quorum. Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture Sanet Steenkamp made the appointment to ensure continuity of governance and oversight.

Benjamin, who previously served as chief executive of the Municipality of Swakopmund, brings extensive experience in strategic leadership, policy implementation and financial management. The NSC expects his leadership to maintain its critical functions and support sports development across Namibia during the interim period.
