Alfiero Moretti dies in Cesena hospital after July collapse

Alfiero Moretti, a 63‑year‑old disabled man, suffered a sudden medical emergency on the night of 19 July in Viale Roma, near Piazza Comandini in Cesenatico, Italy. Passers‑by alerted the Carabinieri and an ambulance, and he was rushed to the Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, where doctors noted serious circulatory and brain problems.

Two days earlier he had been involved in a heated altercation in the city centre, during which he reportedly received blows to the face. Police are investigating whether the prior assaults contributed to his condition, but medical staff said no external injuries were evident at the time of the emergency.

Moretti remained in intensive care for a week, but his state continued to deteriorate. Early on the morning of 26 July, just before 10 a.m., he died at the hospital. The investigation by the Cesenatico Carabinieri continues to determine any possible link between the earlier violence and his death.
