Alfonso and Jonás Cuarón discuss cinema at Busan Film Festival

Filmmakers Alfonso Cuarón and Jonás Cuarón participated in a masterclass and discussions at the Busan International Film Festival. The event included a special IMAX screening of the Oscar-winning film ‘Gravity’, which the father and son co-wrote.

Alfonso Cuarón discussed the evolving nature of cinema, stating that while the theatrical experience will continue, it will likely coexist with many different forms. He noted a shift in his personal priorities, remarking that while film was once his primary focus, he now prioritizes life as an experience.

Jonás Cuarón also presented the Asian premiere of his film ‘Campeón Gabacho’, a story regarding a Mexican immigrant in New York. The pair reflected on their collaborative process for ‘Gravity’, discussing how technical experimentation and emotional stakes were used to sustain audience involvement.
