Alfonso Cepeda Salas arrives at Senate in vehicle with altered license plate

Alfonso Cepeda Salas, a Morena senator and general secretary of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE), was observed arriving at a Morena plenary meeting at the Senate of the Republic in a BMW SUV with an altered license plate.

The Mexico City license plate had its third digit obscured by a film on both the front and rear plates, a practice often used to evade automated traffic fines. When questioned by reporters, Cepeda Salas claimed he was unaware of the alteration and stated that the vehicle was not his property but had been lent to him by friends because his own car is currently in a repair shop.

The senator addressed his driver to ask why the number was covered and subsequently stated that the situation was not correct and that he would investigate the matter.
