Alfonso Cuarón to attend 31st Busan International Film Festival
Two-time Academy Award-winning director Alfonso Cuarón will make his first visit to South Korea to attend the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). Cuarón is scheduled to participate in the festival's opening ceremony and conduct a master class regarding his filmmaking techniques and camera language.
The festival program will include a special IMAX screening of ‘Gravity’, which Cuarón co-wrote with his son, Jonas Cuarón. Jonas Cuarón will also present the Asian premiere of his latest feature, ‘Campeón Gabacho’, in the World Cinema section. The film, a comedy about a Mexican immigrant in the United States, was co-produced by both Cuaróns.
In addition to the Cuaróns' involvement, the festival will feature a program titled ‘Europe! Voices of Women+ in Film’, organized with the European Film Promotion. This initiative spotlights nine films from European women and genderqueer filmmakers. Other notable attendees include Michelle Yeoh, who will receive the Asian Filmmaker of the Year award, as well as Maggie Gyllenhaal and Hirokazu Koreeda.
