Alfonso Fernández Mañueco demands wolf damage compensation funds
Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, President of the Junta of Castilla y León, has sent a formal letter to Sara Aagesen, the Minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, demanding the immediate transfer of funds to compensate for livestock damage caused by Iberian wolves.
Mañueco is requesting the approval of pending distributions and the effective deposit of funds for 2025 and 2026 without further delay. He noted that despite previous claims by twelve autonomous communities and two autonomous cities, significant delays persist. He highlighted that in 2025, Castilla y León had to cover all compensation costs for wolf-related damages using its own resources due to the absence of expected state funding.
