Alfonso Fernández Mañueco sworn in for third term as president of Castilla y León

Alfonso Fernández Mañueco was invested as president of the Junta of Castilla y Leon for a third consecutive term after the regional parliament approved his investiture with 47 votes in favour from the Popular Party (PP) and Vox, and 35 against from the PSOE, UPL and regional parties. The PP‑Vox coalition agreement grants Vox a vice‑presidency and two ministerial portfolios, and includes the controversial “national priority” policy for allocation of public resources.

Mañueco subsequently took the oath before the Cortes, pledging loyalty to the King, the Spanish Constitution and the regional Statute of Autonomy. The ceremony was attended by senior figures such as former prime minister Mariano Rajoy, presidents of other autonomous communities, the government delegate and local mayors. In his inaugural speech he thanked his family, party mentors and coalition partners, and emphasized a government focused on “impulsar nuestra tierra” – boosting the region’s economy, agriculture and public services – while stressing the stability of the PP‑Vox partnership for the next four years.
