Alfonso Lago Ferreiro appointed Government Sub-delegate in Pontevedra

Alfonso Lago Ferreiro has been named the new Government Sub-delegate in Pontevedra, succeeding Abel Losada, who is transitioning to lead the PSOE lists for Congress. Lago Ferreiro, a physicist and industrial engineering professor from the University of Vigo, assumes the role to oversee state administration, infrastructure projects, and security coordination across the province's 91 municipalities.

In his first official capacity, Lago Ferreiro met with police commanders to discuss security arrangements for upcoming demonstrations in Vigo. These protests are organized in response to recent police actions in A Coruña. Lago Ferreiro called for the demonstrations to remain peaceful, stating he wants to defend the right to protest while emphasizing the necessity of police intervention when limits are exceeded to ensure public safety. He also affirmed that all political parties will be permitted to conduct pre-campaign and campaign activities with necessary public protection.
