Alfonso López Chau seeks to maintain political alliance in Peru

Senator and Ahora Nación leader Alfonso López Chau has expressed his desire to maintain the political alliance between Ahora Nación, Juntos por el Perú, Obras, and the Partido del Buen Gobierno. Despite recent tensions regarding the delegation of legislative powers to the Executive, López Chau stated that while the relationship has weakened, it is not definitively broken.

López Chau noted ideological differences, specifically regarding the Partido del Buen Gobierno's self-identification as a centrist party compared to Ahora Nación's position as center-left or democratic left. He also addressed the resignation of legislator Jorge Gavidia from the Partido del Buen Gobierno. López Chau declined to welcome Gavidia into Ahora Nación, stating the party does not seek to recruit members leaving other organizations, and instead expressed hope that Gavidia would reconsider his departure and return to his original caucus.
