Alfonso Raimo appointed Bishop of Terni-Narni-Amelia

Pope Leo XIV has appointed Monsignor Alfonso Raimo as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Terni-Narni-Amelia. Raimo, who previously served as the Titular Bishop of Termini Imerese and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno, will succeed Matteo Antonelli.

The announcement was made on September 15, 2026, during a ceremony at the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Terni. Raimo, born in 1959 in Calabritto, has held various pastoral roles, including serving as a parish priest in Fisciano and Eboli, a chaplain at the Eboli correctional facility, and a professor of theology.

Archbishop Andrea Bellandi of Salerno expressed both pride and mixed emotions regarding the departure of a valued collaborator. Raimo is scheduled to officially take possession of his new see on October 24.
