Alfonso Ramírez Cuéllar calls for corruption probe in Nuevo León
Alfonso Ramírez Cuéllar, the Morena vice-coordinator in the Chamber of Deputies, is calling for the reinstatement of the anti-corruption commission in Nuevo León. He argues this is necessary to facilitate a political trial against Governor Samuel García regarding alleged irregularities in the management of 7.2 billion pesos.
The Auditoría Superior de la Federación (ASF) has reportedly filed a criminal complaint with the Fiscalía General de la República against Governor García for suspected improper handling of funds. Ramírez Cuéllar noted that while the ASF has been requested to conduct a comprehensive review of federal resources used for public works and service contracts, a temporary suspension of the political trial was granted by Supreme Court Minister Estela Ríos, citing potential impacts on state governability.
Additionally, political commentary has highlighted tensions regarding the oversight of the National Electoral Institute (INE), specifically concerning the actions of Guadalupe Taddei and the extent of the ASF's authority to audit the institution.
