Alfonso Rueda addresses Albiol's controversial remarks about Galicians

Xavier García Albiol, the mayor of Badalona, sparked controversy during a political event by stating that “Galicians sometimes do not know where they are going.” The comment was made in the presence of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the leader of the People's Party (PP).

Alfonso Rueda, President of the Xunta, addressed the incident, stating that while he does not like jokes based on stereotypes, he does not grant the matter any importance. Rueda noted that he knows Albiol personally and believes the comment does not reflect a lack of affection for Galicians.

Additionally, Rueda expressed full confidence in Feijóo’s ability to manage and guarantee pensions, reiterating that the issue is “non-negotiable” and citing Feijóo’s previous economic management in Galicia as a basis for this trust.
