Alfonso Rueda addresses Galician government changes and regional funding

Galician President Alfonso Rueda has addressed an upcoming cabinet reshuffle following the departure of Fabiola García, the Minister of Social Policy. García is set to run as a candidate for the Congress of Deputies for A Coruña. Rueda indicated that while a successor must be appointed imminently, the scope of the government reorganization will likely be limited, as he expressed satisfaction with the current administration.

Román Rodríguez, the Minister of Education, also commented on the transition, stating that the decision regarding the extent of the cabinet changes rests with Rueda. Rodríguez declined to comment on political speculation regarding potential leadership shifts within the regional Parliament.

Separately, Rueda criticized the central government's proposed model for regional financing. He argued that the new model undermines territorial solidarity and places Galicia at a disadvantage. He emphasized that financing must ensure equitable access to essential public services, such as healthcare and education, across all Spanish regions. Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, President of Castile and León, joined this criticism, describing the proposal as detrimental to the maintenance of public infrastructure and social services.
