Alfonso Sada's mother challenges Guerrero feminicide investigation

Gloria Cárdenas Ibarra, the mother of Alfonso Jesús Ricardo Sada Cárdenas, has publicly challenged the investigation conducted by the Guerrero State Prosecutor's Office. Her son, a civil engineer and member of the Mexican Navy, is currently detained in Chilpancingo on charges of the feminicide of Alma Lilia Zamarripa Salazar, an incident that occurred in Acapulco on September 5, 2021.

Cárdenas Ibarra claims the prosecution has fabricated the case and asserts that there are significant inconsistencies in the material, scientific, and testimonial evidence used to support the accusation. She noted that at the time of the incident, her son was off-duty, in civilian clothing, and not carrying a service weapon while visiting Acapulco for work supervision.

A court hearing is scheduled for October 23, 2026, prior to the issuance of a sentence. Cárdenas Ibarra has called for the tribunal to evaluate the evidence with independence and respect for due process, while also expressing solidarity with the victim's family.
