The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University has announced that the 2026 Elisabeth Haub Award for Environmental Law and Diplomacy will be jointly awarded to Alfred Lahai Gbabai Brownell Sr. and Durwood Zaelke. The award recognizes their leadership in advancing environmental justice, climate action, and environmental governance. Brownell is noted for pioneering legal strategies to protect environmental defenders and natural resources in Africa and globally, while Zaelke is recognized for his work with the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment.

In conjunction with its 50th anniversary, the law school has also launched the Haub Environmental Law Fifty Fund. This initiative is designed to support junior environmental law scholars through flexible grants for research, fieldwork, and innovative scholarship. The fund aims to foster collaboration and provide resources for emerging professionals to address evolving environmental law and policy challenges.
