Alfredo Cornejo backs Quintana Energy's 3D seismic results confirming Vaca Muerta potential in Mendoza

Governor Alfredo Cornejo met with Energy and Environment Minister Jimena Latorre, Hydrocarbons Director Lucas Erio, Quintana Energy CEO Carlos Gilardone and TSB president Claudio Urcera to review a 3‑D seismic study of the Cañadón Amarillo block in Mendoza. The study confirmed the initial hypotheses that the area contains unconventional hydrocarbon resources, a finding described as a major boost for the province’s oil‑and‑gas sector.

Following the positive results, Quintana Energy‑TSB plans to obtain permits and begin drilling two exploratory wells before the end of the year. The company has pledged a US$44 million investment for the first three years of its contract, marking the first such seismic work in Mendoza since 2017 and underscoring the provincial government's push to attract energy investment.
