Alfredo Cunha opens photography exhibition on women's lives in Sardoal

Photojournalist Alfredo Cunha has inaugurated a new exhibition and book titled ‘O Tempo das Mulheres’ (The Time of Women) at the Centro Cultural Gil Vicente in Sardoal, Portugal. The project, which was conceptualized by journalist and feminist Maria Antónia Palla, features approximately 400 photographs collected over Cunha’s 50-year career.

The collection spans more than twenty countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The works aim to explore the diverse roles, challenges, and societal importance of women from birth to death across various cultural, religious, and social contexts. Cunha noted that the project highlights the preponderant role women play in the restructuring of societies, ranging from tribal communities to more advanced civilizations.
