Algarve coastline features diverse beaches and coastal activities
The Algarve region in Portugal offers a variety of coastal destinations, notably around Portimão and Carvoeiro. In Portimão, popular locations include Praia da Rocha, known for its large sandy expanse and ochre cliffs, as well as Praia dos Três Castelos, Praia dos Careanos, Praia do Vau, and Praia do Alemão. Further west, the landscape transitions into the sandy stretches of Três Irmãos and Alvor.
Carvoeiro, once a quiet fishing village, has become a major holiday destination. Its central Praia do Carvoeiro is highly accessible to families due to its proximity to local shops, restaurants, and cafes. The area is also a hub for maritime activities, including boat trips to the Benagil Cave and various rock formations along the coast. Seasonal events, such as the Black & White Night in June, also draw large crowds to the village.
