Algarve hotels partner with AlgarOrange to promote regional citrus
AlgarOrange, the Algarve Citrus Operators Association, is launching a promotional campaign for Algarve Citrus with Protected Geographical Indication (IGP) status. On August 20 and 21, more than 2,000 oranges will be distributed across five regional hotels to introduce visitors to the local product.
The participating hotels include Amendoeira Golf Resort in Alcantarilha, Golden Club Cabanas in Tavira, Hotel Vasco da Gama in Monte Gordo, Monchique Resort & Spa, and Occidental Faro. The initiative aims to highlight the citrus as a symbol of regional identity and quality, characterized by thin, bright skin and a balanced sweet and acidic flavor.
This action is part of the ‘Internacionalizar + Algarve 3.0’ project, which seeks to increase international recognition of the Algarve region through various sectors including agri-food, tourism, technology, health, and the sea. The project is a co-promotion involving several regional associations and the University of Algarve, co-financed by the Algarve 2030 Regional Program, Portugal 2030, and the European Union.
