Algarve, Portugal named Europe's cheapest family holiday spot in Post Office report
The Post Office Travel Money’s annual Family Holiday Costs Barometer found Portugal’s Algarve to be the cheapest European resort for a family break, with a basket of ten typical items costing £140. The report, which surveyed 22 destinations, also ranked Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach as the runner‑up at £142 and highlighted eight Spanish resorts among the best‑value options. Prices for everyday items such as coffee, sun‑cream and meals varied widely, with a two‑course adult lunch in the Algarve priced at £20.97. The analysis excluded flights and accommodation and noted that resorts in Turkey and Cyprus remain good value despite regional tensions. The findings aim to help UK families plan affordable summer vacations across Europe.
