Algarve tourism revenue grows 5.8% in August

Tourism activity in the Algarve experienced significant growth in August, with revenue increasing by 5.8% to reach 384.9 million euros. According to data from the Instituto Nacional de Estatística (INE), the region accounted for 36.3% of all tourism revenue generated in Portugal during the month.

Key performance indicators for August include 3.27 million overnight stays and approximately 770,000 guests, representing a 1.3% year-on-year increase for both metrics. This figure for overnight stays marks a new post-pandemic record for the month of August.

In the first eight months of the year, the Algarve has consistently outperformed the national average across major indicators. Total revenue rose by 6.9% compared to 5.1% nationally, overnight stays grew by 1.6% against 1.5% nationwide, and the number of guests increased by 2.3% compared to the national growth of 1.8%.
