Algarve tourism revenue rises 7.7% in first half of 2026

The Algarve region reported a 7.7% increase in tourism revenue for the first half of 2026, reaching €698 million, according to the regional tourism board. Between January and June, 2.4 million guests generated 8.8 million overnight stays, a 1.7% rise in dwell time. Domestic visitors grew 3.7% in numbers and 2.4% in nights, while international arrivals rose 3% in guests and 1.5% in nights. Average stay was 3.69 nights, the longest among mainland regions. The occupancy rate hit 53.1%, with RevPAR at €59 and ADR at €111.2. Faro Airport handled 4.79 million passengers, up 3.8% year‑on‑year, with the United Kingdom remaining the top source market, accounting for 44.4% of traffic. Tourism president André Gomes said the figures show the destination’s ability to attract higher‑value demand and boost the regional economy.
